About four years ago, I was reviewing supplier proposals for a new production line. One vendor listed everything from filters to motors to valves under a single SKU. Of course, exception exists. If a supplier has truly deep expertise in multiple fields—say, they build both hydraulic systems and electric drives in-house with separate engineering teams—that's different. But in my experience, that's rare. Most “full-line” catalogs are just reselling with a markup.
So here's my bottom line: I'll trust a supplier who openly says, “This isn't our best domain—here's who does it better.” HYDAC does that for stepper motors, bearings, and anything outside their hydraulic core. And I keep coming back for their cartridge valves, gear pumps, and VFD solutions because when they say “this is our specialty,” I know I'm getting the best they've got.
